BSD Certification Group Inc. announces first fund raising drive
The BSD Certification Group Inc., a non-profit organization creating the certification standard to assess the skills of BSD system administrators, has announced its campaign to raise the startup funds required to create its first certification offering due to be released by Q2 2006. "An important part of creating a certification exam is ensuring that the questions are fair, unbiased, and an accurate assessment of the skills being measured," said Jim Brown, acting vice president and treasurer of the Group. "Achieving this requires hiring the services of a psychometric agency with costs averaging $35,000 USD per test." "This initial layout can't be built into the price of the exam as it is needed to create the exam itself," Brown said. "We're asking everyone to contribute to help make the program successful." The BSD Certification Group Inc. encourages donations from both individuals and organizations. A Donate webpage has been setup at their website to accept donations through Paypal and a "Sponsorship Fact Sheet" is available for download. Companies and organizations that rely on BSD systems are especially encouraged to donate. The site will contain a list of those donors who wish to have their name displayed, as well as a visual aid showing what percentage of the goal of $35,000 has been raised. Additional information about the BSD Certification Group is contained on their website: www.bsdcertification.org
